Initiators

The Initiators and Co-Founders of Art. Talking Business. are Dr. Pascal Decker and Sebastian Pflum. Both of them have been intimately familiar with the art market for many years.

Pascal Decker
founded dtb rechtsanwälte, a boutique law firm designed for clients in the art sector, including corporations, foundations, non-for-profit organizations, galleries, collectors, artists and museums. Since August 2018 he is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of artnet AG. From 2006 on he was Member of the Board and from 2014 till end of May 2018 Managing Chairman of the Board at Stiftung Brandenburger Tor.

Pascal studied law in Berlin, Edinburgh and Boston, and completed his legal training in Berlin and Lyon. He holds a PhD from the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg. He is a lecturer at the Universität der Künste in Berlin.

Sebastian Pflum
started his career in 2011 at the Berlin office of Phillips de Pury & Company. From there he took the chance to become Personal Consultant to the Permanent Secretary for Cultural Affairs of the Federal State of Berlin for almost three years – where he among other things initiated, organised and orchestrated major events like the Berlin Art Week or “be Berlin be Diverse”.

In 2014, he changed position and became (internal) Consultant to the General Manager of Stiftung Oper Berlin (Berlin Opera Foundation). From April 2017 till October 2019 he worked for the cultural Foundation Stiftung Brandenburger Tor as Head of the Foundation Office and Head of Cooperations and Events. Besides this he is independent Consultant for cultural projects and since July 2017 Managing Director of the CAMPUS Pariser Platz Veranstaltungs GmbH. Since October 2019 he is Managing Director of the Stiftung Kunstforum der Berliner Volksbank gGmbH. Sebastian studied law and art history (B.A.) in Tübingen and completed his Master of Arts in art history at the Humboldt University of Berlin.

Elizabeth Markevitch

is an art professional and the founder of ikono, an international platform for visual arts broadcasting. She has since the ’80s served numerous important roles in the international art establishment (Artemis Art Fund, Schröder Bank, Sotheby’s). In 1998, she co-founded the first online gallery eyestorm.com. Markevitch believes that works of art help us perceive and continually question the world around us. They enable us to shift focus and possibly change our behavior, opening our eyes, slowing us down, and talking to our emotions. ikonoTV realizes her vision through carefully curated on-air exhibitions and global broadcasting.

Nicole Stava

born in 1981, she has Swiss and Czech nationality. Her B.A. she made in Political and Social science at the Anglo American University, Prague and Webster University, Geneva. The M.A. she made in Cultural and Creative Industries at the King’s College London. From 2003 – 2009 she works as an Consultant for Middle and Eastern Europe at Christie’s, Manson and Woods ltd. From 2009 till now, she is an independent consultant for Christie’s, Manson and Woods ltd. Also from 2009 till now she works for her own, Nicole Stava Art Consultancy an independent consultant on the international art market. From 2003 on she is also maintaining the family collection of Old Master Pieces, Modern and Contemporary Art and furniture collection in Czech Republic and Switzerland. With her family she also runs a hotel, golf course, forestry, Hunting Chateau and a Renaissance Chateau at the picturesque town of Bechyně, Czech.

Michael Müller

born 1970 in Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany. From 2015 till 2018 he was Professor at the Berlin University of the Arts. He started his education at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Sculpture and Art with Magdalena Jetelova, Düsseldorf, Germany. The artist Michael Müller has various national and international group and solo exhibitions.
